Terry Earwood is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern performance driving instruction. As Lead Instructor and later Chief Instructor at the Skip Barber Racing School for more than three decades, Terry helped shape the curriculum that has influenced generations of performance drivers, racers, law enforcement officers, military personnel, and driving instructors across the country. His impact extends far beyond the racetrack, having personally trained more than 30,000 students during his distinguished career.

An accomplished racer in multiple disciplines, Terry is the winningest driver in the history of the Firestone Firehawk Endurance Series (now IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge) and captured the 1996 IMSA National Touring Championship. Earlier in his career, he won the prestigious 1973 NHRA U.S. Nationals Super Stock Championship and has been inducted into multiple drag racing halls of fame. He has also served as Competition Director and Driver Development Manager for Trans Am and the SCCA while continuing to design driver training programs for manufacturers, law enforcement agencies, and racing organizations throughout North America.

Today, Terry continues to share more than five decades of racing, curriculum development, and driver education experience with Driver’s Edge students, helping the next generation of drivers develop the skills and confidence to stay safe behind the wheel.
